AELMHU presents its 2021 Honorary Awards for the 10th Anniversary of the association

The Spanish Association of Orphan and Ultra Orphan Medicinal Products (AELMHU) has presented its honorary awards, on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the institution, at a ceremony in Madrid presented by Silvia Jato.

María José Sánchez Losada, president of AELMHU, welcomed everyone to the event and the director of the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products, María Jesús Lamas, was in charge of opening the award ceremony.

In this special edition of the awards there were five categories and these were the winners:

  • César Hernández, Head of Medicines for Human Use at the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEPMS) with the honorary award for "his contribution and support to the Association".
  • The Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red en Enfermedades Raras del Instituto de Salud Carlos III (CIBERER), for its part, received the Honorary Award to the organisation, centre or institution for its involvement in fostering and promoting research in rare diseases, "for its promotion of cooperation between biomedical and clinical research groups" in this field.
  • The "Guide to Rare Diseases" by Javier Cano, Pedro Lendínez and Sonia Martín, was recognised as the best dissemination and outreach project in the US.
  • The Autonomous Communities of Andalusia and Extremadura were awarded for being pioneers in the creation of an autonomous strategy in PR in Spain.
  • The founders of AELMHU: Jordi Casals, Juan Ferrero and Jordi Leal.

Ana Pastor, former Minister of Health and Second Vice-President of Congress, wished to convey her warm congratulations and thanks, putting the finishing touch to the event.
