AELMHU calls for the collaboration of health authorities for the protection of rare disease patients during de-escalation

"The current global health crisis generated by the coronavirus has placed patients with rare diseases, who number more than 3 million in Spain, in a high-risk situation. As they suffer from serious diseases, these patients are one of the main groups at risk, placing them in a particularly vulnerable position, to which must be added the collapse generated in hospitals, which has had a direct impact on both access to treatments and clinical trials.
Encouraging innovative approaches to evaluate medical devices and the revision of COVID-19 protocols to ensure the treatment of patients suffering from rare diseases are some of AELMHU's requests. The Association's members are redoubling their efforts in the fight against COVID-19 with different support programmes for healthcare professionals, so that patients have access to their medicines".
