Under the title "Advances in rare diseases, new mechanisms of action", the consultancy firm Bioinnova Consulting organised a webinar, with the support of Alnylam and Novartis, where our president was able to explain the current situation of orphan drugs in Spain. In her speech, María José focused on recalling the main data reflected in the latest Report on Access to Orphan Drugs published by AELMHU last February, with data updated to 31 December 2021.
The meeting, moderated by José Manuel Martínez Sesmero, Head of Pharmacy at Hospital Clínico San Carlos, was also attended by José Antonio Martín Conde, Head of Section of the Pharmacy Service at Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, who spoke about RNA interference mechanisms, and José Luis Poveda, Head of Pharmacy at Hospital Politécnico La Fe in Valencia, who focused on advanced therapies, especially advanced therapy for the treatment of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
