AELMHU 2022 Awards Ceremony

AELMHU has presented its 2022 awards in an emotional ceremony whose institutional inauguration was carried out by César Hernández, director general of the Common Portfolio of Services of the National Health System and Pharmacy of the Ministry of Health.

For this fourth edition, the association has had an independent jury formed by: Eva Bermejo-Sánchez, director of the Rare Diseases Research Institute of the Carlos Tercero Health Institute (ISCIII); Juan Carrión Tudela, president of the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER); Carlos García Collado, deputy director general of Pharmacy and benefits in the Andalusian Health Service; Antoni Gilabert Perramon, director of Innovation and Partnership in the Health and Social Consortium of Catalonia; Encarna Guillén Navarro, president of the AEGH. Medical Genetics Service of the Hospital C.U.V. Arrixaca. IMIB. UMU. CIBERER-ISCIII; Coral Larrosa De Lope, vice-president of the National Association of Health Informers (ANIS); Jordi Nicolás Picó, vice-president of the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacy (SEFH); José María Vergeles Blanca, Second Vice-president and Regional Minister of Health and Social Services of the Regional Government of Extremadura and Marian Corral López, Director of ALEMHU (without vote).

During the gala, presented by Silvia Jato, the following awards and recognitions were presented:

  • Best Healthcare Project on Rare Diseases for the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu de Barcelona for the project: "La Casa de Sofía" and recognition for the finalist: "Guía de Asesoramiento Preconcepcional desde Atención Primaria" by co-authors: Ismael Ejarque Doménech, María Isabel Castelló López and José Vicente Sorlí Guerola.
  • Best project of divulgation, dissemination and/or awareness of Rare Diseases for the Asociación MPS-Lisosomales España for the project "1er Certamen Raras internacional de Fotografía y Cortometrajes" and the finalist: the Asociación En Ruta por las Enfermedades Raras for the project: "En Ruta por las Enfermedades Raras".
  • Best Professional Career in the field of Rare Diseases for Dr. Francesc Palau Martínez, physician and scientist, and the finalist: Dr. José María Millán Salvador, medical specialist and researcher.
  • The AELMHU 2022 Honorary Award, chosen by AELMHU associates, was presented to Mr. Manuel Pérez, in recognition of the Mehuer Foundation's commitment to social knowledge and the promotion of epidemiological, clinical, therapeutic and social research into rare diseases.

Teresa Perales, Paralympic athlete and Princess of Asturias Award for Sports, was in charge of closing the awards with a speech focused on the importance of a positive attitude to face life's challenges.
