AELMHU rewards research, clinical trajectory and the dissemination of rare diseases and orphan drugs

"The researcher at the Centre for Applied Medical Research of the University of Navarra, Antonio Fontanellas Romá, has received the AELMHU Award for the Best Research Career in Orphan Diseases and Medicines for his work in the biochemical and molecular characterisation of rare metabolic diseases and, particularly, in the development of new therapies for porphyrias.
The presentation of the 2nd AELMHU Awards was held at the Royal National Academy of Medicine in Madrid, with the attendance of Ms. Mª Jesús Lamas, Director of the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS), and Ms. Mª José Calvo, Deputy Director General of Pharmacy and Health Products of the Community of Madrid who, together with the president of AELMHU, Josep Mª Espinalt, presented the awards whose economic endowments of 5.5,000 euros have been donated in their entirety to projects linked to rare diseases and/or orphan drugs".
